Year 10 students got a chance to see how much a new building project has advanced since their last visit when they spent some time at the development site of the college's Harrow Weald campus where a new LLDD building (Learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities) is being constructed.
This was the student's third visit this year, having visited once each term. The visit provided the Level 2 TechBac students with an opportunity to see how some of the subjects they have studied in their City & Guilds course are applied professionally.
During this latest session, students were given a guided tour by site project manager Alan Harman from Hutton Construction, the contractors responsible for the build. Alan informed the students on many topics including heated flooring, insulated walls, piping, electrics and the different type of materials being used within the building. Students once again had the opportunity to ask questions and take photographs, which they will then use as support material for course assignments.
Thomas Brosnan, Skills Centre Lecturer at Harrow College said "TechBac provides students with a professional pathway to their chosen career and gives them the opportunity to achieve the technical qualifications and skills needed to progress. Today's visit is the third we have made this year and students have seen first-hand just how far the building has progressed ".
Alan Harman commented "It's great for us to be able to show the students what we do and also for us to answer questions to help the students with their studies. They have been on this journey with us and we are looking forward to their final visit in September when we expect to show them the completed building".
The new Harrow College LLDD building is due to open in September and will offer enhanced facilities for the students including a central flexible learning zone and courtyard, sensory room and specialist classrooms for LLDD students.
