Architecture, interior and product design students at Harrow College are working on a project with Harrow Council to help with the design of the new Council Civic Centre.
Students, together with the Harrow Council Regeneration Unit, will explore the design of the new Civic Centre focusing on a number of different aspects. The students will help to design the furniture and the interiors of the registry office, library and work spaces. The group have already completed work experience at a public participation meeting in late January and earlier in March, attended a project briefing trip to the old Civic Centre.
Later this month, the students will visit the new Civic Centre which has won multiple awards including the SCALA Civic Building of the Year award. The visit will comprise of a tour led by Aktar Choudhury, Operational Director for Regeneration in Brent. The visit will give students the opportunity to compare the current Civic Centre to that of the new state of the art building.
There are also plans in place for the students to meet Gort Scott Architects – the company who won the new Civic Centre architecture bid. Gort Scott Architects intend to visit Harrow College later in the year when they can meet students and exchange ideas on each other’s work.
