On 1st March 2017 Learning Links / Life Skills and LLDD students (learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities) enjoyed a morning with visitors from Headstone Manor Museum as part of their work on the Whitefriars Glass project.
Laura Coughlin and Hailey Baxter of Headstone Manor Museum visited students at the new Spring House building to begin the morning with a presentation to students. Students were then moved into smaller groups to learn more about the glass, how to identify Whitefriars glass and knowledge of the production process that previously existed at Whitefriars.
Students also had an opportunity to share their creativity by colouring in printed designs of Whitefriars glass.
Laura Coughlin, Access and Learning Officer at Headstone Manor Museum said “We've worked with Harrow College before and found the teaching staff and students to be a real pleasure to work with. Staff go the extra mile to help students to produce high quality output and they really understand the value of students interacting with art. As a local college it's important that students are able to learn about a history that's relevant to them. As a result of the project, they can really take a sense of pride in their involvement."
Pieces of Whitefriars Glass and a film will be exhibited at the museum from late 2017.
