An expert panel, including representation by Harrow College, has taken part in a discussion in front of a live audience to address career advice today. The event, held inside London’s National Theatre and organised by EY, is part of its wider ‘Parental Advice’ campaign in the UK which aims to help bridge the information gap by arming parents with more information.
The panel discussed what career advice looks like, its challenges and what can be done by parents to improve the knowledge and delivery of careers advice with the goal of ultimately helping children build the right future.
The panel included:
• Sarah Beeny, TV presenter, Businesswoman and property developer
• Lee Jannaway, Senior Manager at Harrow College with 17 years experience in Education
• Laura-Jane Rawlings, CEO of Youth Employment UK
• Jack Parsons, CEO of YourFeed
• Flo Barrett, EY Apprentice
• Steven Bartlett, CEO of Social Chain
The passionate audience, including many parents, listened intently as the panel held a constructive conversation that unearthed the sticking points and brainstormed how to change things for the better, as well providing tips for parents and students.
Speaking after the event, Lee Janaway of Harrow College said;
“Today’s event addressed a very important topic and it was great to sit on the panel to discuss this. As an advocate for ensuring young people get the most out of their education, I’m pleased that changes are being made to make career advice more accessible with parents much more involved in the process”.
EY is one of the UK’s biggest recruiters of young people post A-levels and post university.
