Level 3 Media student, Vishalini Mangalarubain is the Jack Petchey Achievement Award winner for her constructive and inspiring contribution to Harrow College’s Enrichment Programme. Vishalini and one of her peers decided to create an Anime and Manga Club for students who have an interest in these two visual storytelling mediums. Within this club, students watch different anime’s, read manga, comics and graphic novels. They also design characters and discuss science fiction, steampunk and fantasy visual arts.
As co-founder of the Anime and Manga Club, Vishalini has promoted this club within the college grounds and most recently at the student fayre in March, where she was able to recruit many new members. The Anime and Manga club has allowed students to express their passion and curiosity for Japanese production and it has been a great contribution to student life at college. In the future, Vishalini hopes to plan club trips that relate to Anime & Manga in London, and to grow the club next year with new members.
