Level 1 maths students have presented their investment plans for a new business venture following a virtual Lotto win resulting in a budget of £200,000.
The students worked in small groups. Each had the task of buying an empty shop premise and to fully furnish it to make the business ready for the pubic.
The 6 week projects culminated in a special Expo afternoon where each group presented their work using digital presentation, display board posters as well as scaled models which allowed guests to see exactly what the business would look like when ready to trade.
The groups were judged on showing a good financial bank balance, justifying their choice of furniture, explaining how the business ideas were justified and demonstrating how well the group worked together. Guests were treated to snacks and refreshments whilst visiting each group and watching their business presentations. The afternoon ended with winning group being announced during a special presentation event.
Speaking during the event, Parvaneh Alinaghian, Head of Maths at Harrow College said:
“Our Level 1 students fully embraced this Expo challenge and have delivered some fantastic business plans. They have displayed excellent attributes and put their maths skills to full use”.
The Harrow College Expo celebrates student life at the college. The Expo gives students from each department an opportunity to provide an insight into what they do on their course and what their aspirations are for the year ahead.
