Viktoria Noel, an AS Level student from Harrow College, has been accepted into a highly regarded summer school at the prestigious Eton College.
The summer school is a ten-day residential course for pupils at the end of their first year at sixth form contemplating entry to University. Applicants should have the intention of going to a British university and be of the calibre of those applying for admission to Oxford or Cambridge.
As far as possible the course supplements normal school work and avoids the topics covered during A-level teaching. The aim is to provide an intensive and exciting programme to enrich the intellectual experience of those participating and to give them the opportunity to exchange ideas with able students with similar interests from other schools. Whilst at the summer school, Viktoria will be studying a combined course of Chemistry and Maths as well as a series of extra-curricular activities.
A delighted Viktoria, who is currently studying AS Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Biology, has her sights set on a degree in Chemistry at university after she completes her course at Harrow College. Speaking about the Summer School which commences in late June this summer, Viktoria said:
"I was very happy when I received the letter of acceptance; I believe it's a great opportunity for me to get to know likeminded students and to broaden my knowledge in the subjects I like. I enjoy studying maths & science at Harrow College, so I look forward to learning concepts beyond the A level syllabus".
Kathy Fry teaches Viktoria Maths and Further Maths AS levels at Harrow College. She commented "This is an ideal course for Viktoria because, as well as having ability, she also has a genuine interest in the subjects she is studying. The opportunity to explore topics outside the A level syllabus will be of great benefit to her. I am hoping she will also enjoy the wide range of extra-curricular activities available."
