Stateside beckons for one budding sports student from Harrow College. Antone Michael Jarvis, 18, has secured a place at the highly respected San Jacinto College in Houston, Texas to develop his football career and study Sports Psychology.
Antone has just completed a Football Academy BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport at Harrow College. The academy is part of a specialist Football Development Centre which, in association with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, provides talented young sports people with the opportunity to develop their prospects of a career in football while continuing with their BTEC sports education.
It was during this time at Harrow College that Antone got his big break. An agency representing Antone flew out to a sports convention in the US with a video of Antone playing in an academy game. Scouts from San Jacinto College were really impressed by Antone's talents on the pitch and were keen for him to join their college. Other US state colleges were equally impressed as were leading UK based football schools but with a successful history of developing football careers as well as having a good football and education balance, it was San Jacinto College that Antone chose.
The Houston based college will support Antone with his football development as well as his academic education. During the two year course, Antone will be studying Sports Psychology alongside playing football. He is also keen to add either Spanish or French as a side language course.
Speaking of the news, Antone said "My two passions are playing football and sports psychology. Going to America will allow me to do both which I am really excited about. The experience of going abroad and playing in a country which is really developing its football will be fantastic. Studying at Harrow College has provided me with the perfect platform to go and hopefully progress at the top level".
Principal and Chief Executive at Harrow College Pat Carvalho commented "Everybody at Harrow College, especially the sports staff are really proud of Antone. He has shown great enthusiasm and dedication from the start and we'll be tracking his progress with interest. We wish him the very best and look forward to welcoming new students onto our sports courses to hopefully follow in Antone's footsteps".
Antone flew out to Houston in mid-August in time for pre-season football training and has now started his new course.
