Harrow College has hosted and activity-packed cycling event today (22 September) at the Harrow-on-the-Hill campus. The event aimed to encourage more people to get on their bikes and highlighted the many benefits of doing so.
The free event had lots to offer including guests from the cycling world. The London Cycling Campaign team were present and offered advice on all sorts of cycling matters and also gave people the opportunity to try out a number of new bicycles.
Lots of students (and staff) got involved, with many making time to visit the event during breaks in their lesson timetables. Free maintenance checks were given to those who brought their own bikes. Students and staff also had the opportunity to meet the Metropolitan Police who were in attendance to give safety advice.
Jacki Staal, Coordinator of todays event said "Student enrichment, social interaction and getting more active are key aspects of our commitment to student development. Today’s event gave students, and staff, the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of cycling such as better health and saving money. Free advice was given out on road safety, cycling training, route planning, plus those with bicycles had a free maintenance check. We’re looking forward to running the event again on Tuesday, 11 October!”
