Harrow College is celebrating yet another achievement today with the FE college recording 97.5% A-level pass rate overall, with 58% of students achieving A*-C grades.

This year-on-year improvement follows the recent news from the Department for Education that Harrow College is highest overall achieving college in North West London.

Students returned to the college this morning to collect their A-level and BTEC results with many delighted with their achievements. Any early anxiety soon turned to joy with students looking ahead positively to university, apprenticeship, employment and similar career progression routes.

Richa Vinodchandra (19) was one student who was full of smiles this morning. Having moved to the UK from India just three years ago, the young student completed her GCSE and two year A-level course at the college and is now looking to the future. She said “I feel really good! I have secured my place at Brunel University to do Biomedical Science, which is excellent”.

Hao Chen (20) was also celebrating today. Having achieved grades A, A, B in Maths, Chemistry and Physics A-level, Hao is getting ready for university. He said “I first joined Harrow College 4 years ago and at the time, spoke little English. With support from staff and excellent science facilities including equipment and laboratories, I am now continuing my passion for Science by going to UCL to study Geophysics”.

BTEC students were also collecting their results certificates. A delighted Zaboor Chaudry (18) achieved distinction level grades in his Creative Media Production course. He said “The second year was tough but my efforts and patience has been rewarded. I plan to pursue a career in videography and am currently looking into apprenticeship and university options”.

Dylan McTaggart, Harrow College Vice Principal commented:

"Hearty congratulations to our A-level and BTEC students; 86% of our university applicants received places at their choice of university, with a number achieving places at Russell Group Universities. With Harrow students receiving outstanding levels of additional support, students progressing to higher levels has increased by 10%".
