The course will build your core knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. You will take part and plan practicals, and also attend work experience within the Science Industry. This will help you develop employability and work related skills alongside your qualification. You will also sit English and Maths GCSE if needed to help you progress onto a relevant Level 3 course.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will have a OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Applied Science, maths and English GCSE’s at grade 4 or above and at least one week of work experience within the Science Industry.

Entry requirements
The T Level Transition Programme is available for young people with 4 x GCSEs grade 3 (grade D) or above including both English & maths. We would also accept a Level 1 in Functional Skills maths or English. Learners must be aged 16-17 (on the 1st September 2021) or if you have an EHCP be aged 16-22. International Qualifications will be considered on a case by case basis.

Who is the course for?
This course is for students who have a keen interest in the application of Science and would like to move onto a level 3 Science course, but need to develop some further academic skills first.

How is the course assessed?
Units are internally assessed through coursework. Each unit is assessed by assignments which are graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction. There will be a short synoptic exam at the end of the course which will test knowledge acquired throughout the year.

More information
Learners will need to be volunteering or on a short practical placement to show competence in both knowledge and skills. This will be arranged by the College and does not need to be arranged prior to application.

This qualification allows progression on to the T-Level in Science, a new course which builds on skills learnt during the Transition year.
Otherwise, a Pass at the Level 2 Certificate and E3 Functional Skills English and Maths can lead to the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Science. A Merit at the Level 2 Certificate and L1 Functional Skills English and Maths can lead to the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma. A Merit at the Level 2 Certificate and L2 English and Maths can lead to the BTEC Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in Science. -
