English - ESOL

You will study a certificate in science and qualifications in English and maths.

  • Entry requirements

    No formal qualifications required. Students' level of English as well as interest and suitability for the programme will be determined by a written test and an interview at enrolment.

  • Who is the course for?

    Learners who wish to improve their written and spoken English, Maths and IT skills and want to go on to further studies or employment. Students will have an interest in Science.

  • Study methods

    A variety of methods will be used including group work, pair work, role play, written assessments, listening and speaking tasks, use of course book material, reading exercises and some laboratory work.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Students will be continually assessed during class hours. There are internal assessments and external exams set at the end of each unit or mode of study.

  • More information

    Students will be expected to have A4 lined paper, pens and pencils, a ring binder as well as a dictionary.
    Students may be asked to buy a course book as well as writing material.
    Students will be expected to have A4 lined paper and pens.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    Progression will be to ESOL GCSE Science or mainstream courses such as BTECs.
