Media

Learners will gain a broad knowledge and understanding as well as develop practical skills within the fields of video production, graphics, photography, animation and contemporary multimedia concepts. Learners will gain an understanding of the Media Industry and of opportunities for employment. All students will be required to develop their English and Maths through courses such as Functional skills and GCSEs.

  • Entry requirements

    4 x GCSEs grade 3 (grade D) or above preferably including both English & maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification.

  • Who is the course for?

    Our new Level 2 Media course introduces and inspires students to consider a future in creative and interactive media, whether in education or out in the industry. The course is perfect for those who have not studied Media in High School and have an interest in this subject. This is a one-year course consisting of 8 units, where you then progress onto numerous paths from Level 3 course (A-Level/BTEC/UAL), Apprenticeships & Media-related employment. Our Diploma is equivalent to 4 GCSE’s.

    This course will be taught through demonstrations, whole group teaching, discussions, practical workshops and various classroom activities involving group and pair work

  • How is the course assessed?

    The course is 100% coursework. Learners will be assessed over all units through written and practical assignments.

    As well as the ‘usual school’ stationary (pens, pencils, highlighters, scissors, staplers, notepad/book, A4 2-ring binder folder to store handouts). We recommend learners to have a USB Stick/Pen Drive, and also to have their own 8GB/16GB SD Memory Card. We take the learners on a number of exciting and relevant educational visits and trip costs (to cover entry and/or special workshops will be asked for when trips are organised. Recent trips have been to the BFI London Film Festival, BBC & Warner Brother Studios.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    A Merit/Distinction grade at the Level 2 Diploma and L2 English or Maths can lead to our UAL Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology or other Level 3 provisions.
