Project Search is a collaborative venture involving Harrow College, Northwick Park Hospital, Kaleidoscope, Harrow Council, and the West London Alliance.
The majority of participants in the programme nationally transition to paid employment.
Students develop transferable skills, knowledge, and attitudes in readiness for paid employment.
They increase their employability, customer service, maths, English and ICT skills. Work-based classroom learning allows students to experience three different work roles, with support from the tutor and job coaches.
Interns will:
- Participate in a variety of placements with a high status local employer
- Develop competitive, transferable, and marketable job skills
- Gain increased independence, confidence, self-esteem, and build friendship groups
- Receive work-based individual instruction, coaching, support, and feedback from a job coach, tutor, and host business managers
- Improve English and maths skills while earning a Work Skills qualification.

Who is the course for?
The Project Search Work Training Programme provides on-site practical work training at Northwick Park Hospital for young adults with special educational needs.

Study methods
The programme runs five days a week, for a full academic year. Typically, interns complete three work placements between 10 – 12 weeks in length. Those taking part will have learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum conditions. Interns are expected to travel independently to the workplace where possible and required to follow the NWLU Healthcare NHS Trust induction, new employee checks, Occupational Health guidelines as well as work to the Trusts visions, values and behaviours.

How is the course assessed?
As well as on-the-job work experience, students will complete a portfolio of evidence and gain a Gateway Qualification in Employability.

Interns that have successfuuly completed the programme will be able to seek employment.
