During the course you will study body massage, in depth relevant anatomy and physiology, electrolysis, advanced facial and body electrical treatments, hot stone massage, financial effectiveness of a Business and Indian head massage.
You may also study English and Maths alongside this qualification.
You may study Maths or English functional skills, as this will help in finding employment.

Entry requirements
Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2 or equivalent Beauty qualification.
Candidates will also need to complete a Profiler Assessment test in English and Maths and a written and practical assessment. Candidates should have good communication skills and be able to work with others as well as a calm and professional approach as they will be working with clients and will be assessed on their skills. -
Who is the course for?
This course is designed for anyone who has achieved a NVQ level 2 Beauty Therapy or an equivalent Beauty qualification, and wants to gain a higher qualification to enable them to work in the UK and abroad.

Study methods
Theory lessons are taught by various student centred methods and lectures. You will produce evidence using a range of different methods including assignments, oral questions, practical assessments and written or online exams. Practicals will be demonstrated and students will be expected to work on each other to begin with and to work on clients when deemed ready to be assessed in a realistic work environment. You will need to spend time on independent study while not at college.

How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed throughout the course on both practical and theory; you will also be assessed on assignments, tests, work packs and oral questions. You will build a portfolio of evidence that is internally and externally verified. You will also be required to pass written exams set by the awarding body for all anatomy and physiology and for all the practical units to successfully complete this qualification.

There will be an opportunity for you to attend additional short courses relevant to the beauty industry which will support your knowledge and skills and to help improve your employability opportunities (please note there may be an additional charge for these courses).
A4 lever arch folder, paper, pens, and kit if you have received it, your enrolment forms, and your Level 2 Beauty Therapy certificates if not already checked by the college. If you have your uniform you should wear it to the first session.
PLEASE NOTE: To meet Health and Safety requirements students would need to be wearing their correct uniform in order to carry out practical activities and treatments. -
Where Next – Further Studies
Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3 will enable successful candidates to work in the beauty industry for example, in salons, health spas and cruise liners. Successful candidates will be able to progress onto further study programmes such as Holistic Therapies, Advanced Make Up Studies and Nail Extensions.
