I started studying at Harrow College in October 2011 and I studied level 1 and then level 2 IT courses.
After having to give up work due to personal circumstances I found it difficult to get back into employment with the recession. I came to Harrow College as I referred by the Job Centre which was a great opportunity for me. I'd looked at the courses before online but being unemployed I couldn't afford the course fees.

"I started studying at Harrow College in October 2011 and I studied level 1 and then level 2 IT courses.
After having to give up work due to personal circumstances I found it difficult to get back into employment with the recession. I came to Harrow College as I referred by the Job Centre which was a great opportunity for me. I'd looked at the courses before online but being unemployed I couldn't afford the course fees.
My courses gave me the confidence to apply my skills and to write on my CV that I could do these things. I liked the atmosphere; it wasn't too formal. We knew we had to do the work and attend classes but the responsibility was left to us. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I'm not sure how he did it but my tutor Rodger made me believe in myself and gave me the confidence to get back into work.
I'm now working as an administrative assistant in Business Base at Harrow College. My responsibilities include answering the phone, dealing with enquiries, enrolling learners from the Job Centre and preparing course materials for tutors. I'm currently on a temporary contract which will finish in December. If a permanent position becomes available at Harrow College I will definitely apply and hopefully develop my career from there.
Business Base courses are relevant to life and focused on helping you find work. Employers recognise and value the qualifications."
